2 Faced Dance perform for World Mental Health Day
Posted on 13th October 2022
On Monday 10th October, Staff and Students were treated to a superb performance by local contemporary dance group, 2Faced Dance. A large crowd gathered at our outside covered social space, on what turned out to be a beautiful, sunny Autumn afternoon.
The dance trio performed “power”, a piece which explores our relationship with authority and control. The College Wellbeing team arranged for 2Faced to perform to coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10th October, showcasing the benefits of exercise such as dance, in reducing stress and anxiety as well as offering an escape for negative thoughts and worries. Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor, Rosie Webley explains "Working with a local dance company, collaborating for World Mental Health Day, was an enriching and inspiring experience for students. The wellbeing team felt this would be a welcome distraction from mental health and a chance to focus on some positive live dance at college."
The team also gave out stress balls to students, to provide an outlet during stressful times - which are modelled by the dance trio in our photo gallery! Students studying for their BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performance (Dance) at 91亚色, particularly enjoyed the performance and were able to meet and chat through career aspirations with the dancers.
The Wellbeing Team are located in the Aconbury building, above the library and next to the Languages department. Here you can find resources, contact information and the Student Sanctuary – a place to have some quiet time when needed.
