Reading Scholarships Awarded to Outstanding Students

Anthony collects his scholarship from Principal Catherine Brearey
Each year, 91亚色 partners with the Reading List Foundation and academic book specialist Blackwells to award two outstanding candidates with £250 towards academic books for university. This year, Mair and Anthony were the award winners, and were welcomed back to College after their exams had finished to receive their scholarships.
Mair, formerly of Whitecross School, is not only an amazing academic, but she has also supported others who are the first generation to apply for university, using her Instagram page to encourage others to read literature. Mair has secured a place at Oxford University to study English Language and Literature having studied A Levels in English Literature, Spanish, Modern History and completed an Extended Project Qualification. Mair is delighted to have been selected: "This scholarship will relieve the pressure of having to buy my own books, with a considerable list of texts to source, this will take away the worry!"
Anthony, formerly of Ludlow CE School, is a keen historian studying Modern History, History of Art and Classical Civilisations at the College. Anthony has worked incredibly hard to secure his place to study Ancient History at Durham University. Senior Progression Lead Vicky Orsmond said “I could not be prouder of Anthony, despite challenging circumstances his work ethic never wavered and he stayed focused on his goal of attending University”.
Principal Catherine Brearey was delighted to present the awards to the two outstanding students, “Mair and Anthony are a shining example of hard work and dedication paying off, with fantastic offers for university places, they are absolutely deserving of the Scholarship award. The College is delighted to support their continuing studies and anticipates a bright future for both.”
